Making a traditional bark canoe - Botany Bay

making a bark canoe

Bark canoes were sighted in Botany Bay by James Cook in 1770. Aboriginal knowledge holders have revived the art of making bark canoes. This film shows the steps involved from harvesting the bark to the creation of canoes.
