The team at Kamay Botany Bay Environmental Education Centre had the opportunity today to visit the Meeting of Two Cultures ceremony hosted by Sutherland Shire Council in Kamay Botany Bay National Park.
29 April commemorates the Meeting of Two Cultures, where Lieutenant James Cook and his HMB Endeavour crew made first contact with the Gweagal community, who lived in the Kamay area at the time of Cook’s landing in 1770.
There were fabulous displays and activities including weaving and shell art, as well as performances by the Gamay Dancers.
