Geography incursion

Stage 3: Factors that Shape Places

Location:
Bring the expert educators from Kamay Botany Bay Environmental Education Centre to your school for an exciting, hands-on incursion! Our qualified teachers will guide students in exploring the unique factors that shape places within their own school grounds—fostering curiosity, inquiry, and discovery right where they learn every day.

Overview:
Using the geographical inquiry process, students will investigate their school environment, exploring its natural features, human influences, and environmental values. They will use geographical tools and instruments to record observations in a geography journal. Students will also examine how people change the natural environment, explore the impacts of local planning issues, and identify ways to contribute to sustainability initiatives in their area.

This immersive experience transforms the school into a living classroom where students engage in real-world geography and science, develop a deeper connection to their surroundings, and understand the factors that shape places.

Tailored to suit your school’s context and student needs, this incursion offers a cost-effective alternative to excursions—delivering rich, curriculum-aligned learning without the need for bus travel.
