Unit description
Students investigate the natural and cultural features of Kamay Botany Bay National Park and examine how people interact with, use, and care for places. Through hands-on fieldwork, students explore Aboriginal Peoples’ connections to Country, environmental features, human impacts, and conservation practices. Students use geographical tools to collect, record, and communicate information, developing skills in observation, comparison, and explanation.

Students will:
- Investigate Dharawal Country at Kamay Botany Bay National Park, exploring how Aboriginal Peoples are connected to land and water through sustainable use of natural resources.
- Explore bush and coastal environments, identifying natural features and examining how these habitats support plants, animals, and human use.
- Examine the beach shoreline and rock platform to identify conservation strategies and actions that help care for and protect the environment.
- Investigate how human use of Kamay Botany Bay National Park has changed over time, exploring the impacts on the environment and ways to support sustainability.
