Unit description

Students explore how people lived in the past at Kamay Botany Bay National Park by engaging directly with Country, stories, objects and significant places. Through hands-on, place-based experiences, students learn that Aboriginal Peoples have lived on and cared for this Country for a long time. Students discover that people lived differently in the past and that places, stories and objects help us understand how people lived long ago and how people live today.

  • Describe Aboriginal Peoples’ use of bark canoes and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ use of dugout canoes, using stories and objects using stories and objects
